Greetings TMG,

Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend TMG this week again due to having to travel to Wyoming County. I apologize for missing numerous meeting; however, I am wearing 3 different hats and my work load has increased. I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that the West Virginia State Police are in the testing process again and I have attached a flyer with all of the details. The test dates are May 31 thru June 4 and on June 10, 2011 at 0900 hours at the State Police Academy. My contact information is listed and feel free to forward this email or make copies of the flyer. We encourage minority and female applicants to apply. Also, we have civilian jobs in Kanawha county, they have to look on our website www.wvstatepolice.com under non-uniformed job listings. Thanks for your support and I hope to see you sometime in soon.

WVSU to Hold Neighborhood Partnership Fair

The West Virginia State University (WVSU) campus will play host to a Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnership Fair from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19. The event will consist of a convocation at 11 a.m. in the Ferrell Hall Auditorium, a town hall meeting at 1 p.m. and a faith-based and neighborhood partnership showcase at 2 p.m. in the Wilson University Union. .

The event is being sponsored by WVSU's National Center for Human Relations, the West Virginia Human Rights Commission, and the WVSU College of Professional Studies. It is free and open to the public.

The featured speaker for the 11 a.m. convocation will be B.J. Douglass who serves as Senior Project Officer for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. She has traveled throughout the country providing a wide array of faith-based entities with vital information about how to utilize government resources to further enhance their capacity to serve people. During her 20-year career at HUD she has conceptualized and implemented innovative projects while working in the agency's diverse program areas.

The town hall meeting at 1 p.m. will consist of a training session to prepare faith-based and neighborhood organizations to apply for grants through HUD. Mrs. Douglass and national grant trainer, Evelyn Young, will conduct the workshop.

The showcase  at 2 p.m. will be an opportunity for faith-based and community groups to provide information on the services they offer.

Mel is fine, and UUC to host PRIDE Inter-faith service

Dear CARLA friends,

Sorry to have missed the last meeting. Mel had two stents put in  and came home the evening before our meeting.  I was going to come and let everyone know he was doing well, but the meeting went out of my consciousness.  In retrospect, I was more stressed than I let myself believe over this stent business.  Mel's doing great!  We're both very thankful that the blockages were found before they got worse, since he had no symptoms.

This year we at UUC have been asked by WV Pride to host the Pride Inte-faith service on Monday, June 6 in the evening -- can't remember the exact time at the moment -- so we're sending out this note to see who might be interested in working with us to plan the service and to see if you or any members of your congregation would like to participate in the service.

Thanks -
Rose

Fwd: Holocaust Commemoration in Charleston- From Federated

"Unto Every Person There Is A Name"

World Wide Commemoration of Victims of the Holocaust

                                       Monday, May 2nd

                                      10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.

                                       Charleston Town Center

Dear Friends,

We are asking you to join Federated Jewish Charities of Charleston on Monday, May 2, 2011, Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) for the Nineteenth Annual "Unto Every Person There is a Name" Holocaust Memorial Program at the Charleston Town Center. This is not only an individual experience, but should be attended by your entire family, in order to allow those of the younger generation to gain knowledge of the events that occurred over sixty years ago.

We are asking you to join with your friends and neighbors to read the names of those murdered. We will be honored to set aside a slot for you between 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.  If you can be with us, please notify Judy Lundy at 304-744-4932 or lundy43@gmail.com, with your time preference. The observance will be on the ground level in front of Macy's.

Please join remembering those who were murdered. We believe this will give us the opportunity to educate more people about the horrible results of intolerance in society. We know that the Jewish community will appreciate your participation and understanding on this day of remembrance.

In addition, we look forward to having you join us for a Service of Remembrance on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at Temple Israel.

Yours truly,

Stuart May                    Susan Striar May                  Judy Lundy

It was good to meet you all

It was good to meet you all last Wednesday. I appreciate the level
the sharing within the group.

I caught that the pattern is to advance a day each month, rotating
Tues-Wed-Thurs. As I look at my calendar, unfortunately, I have
commitments for the next two months. In May 3-6, I will be
representing this presbytery at our Board of Pensions regional meeting
in Philadelphia, and May 30 - June 6, I will be on vacation!

I hope we can continue to stay in touch using this Google groups
method.

Blessings to you all!

OBSERVANCES IN HONOR OF UBB VICTIMS

OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR

Communications Office – Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 1, 2011

Contact: Jacqueline Proctor
304-558-2000

GOVERNOR ANNOUNCES STATEWIDE OBSERVANCES
IN HONOR OF UBB VICTIMS
On April 5, 2011 at 3:01 p.m.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. –Today Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin issued a proclamation
proclaiming Tuesday, April 5, 2011, as a day of prayer and remembrance for the
twenty-nine men who were killed at the Upper Big Branch Mine one year ago.
The proclamation also includes a request for statewide observances to occur
starting at 3:01 p.m. in honor of the victims.

"One year ago, 29 hard working miners perished," Gov. Tomblin said. "In their
memory, I request that every church in our state ring its bell 29 times at 3:01
p.m. which is the estimated time of the deadly explosion. At that moment, I
ask all West Virginians to observe a moment of silence for all miners who have
perished and for those who continue to work in harm's way."

On April 5th, the Governor will pay tribute to the UBB miners by laying a wreath
at the Miner's Statue on the State Capitol grounds. Later that evening, the
Governor will participate in a memorial service with the UBB victims' families.
Additional details regarding both events will be forthcoming.
