Here is a link to an announcement of the Westboro Baptist Church protesting at some of the congregations in Charleston.  They have publicized they are going to these places.  Whether they will or not, I don't know.

I thought the congregations involved might need some warning.

Sky --
I honestly can't remember if I sent this information before, so I'm forwarding it from Dina Jones at WVU.  It is about an exercise program for people with arthritis, and people enrolled are part of a study to see if the gentle exercisis offered make a difference in their flexibilty.  UUC is a site for these exercises and fits in with the Better Health and Wellness ministry we are developing.

The flyer says March but classes are not starting till mid-April.  It would be good to let CARLA members know in case it could help any members of their congregations.

Thanks -
Rose

Hello Rev. Rose and Rev. Mel,

Hope all is well with you.  I was just writing to follow-up with the distribution of the flyers I sent you back in February and if you needed any other materials for bulletins or such?  Also, I was wondering if you were able to email the flyer to Sky Kirshner for distribution.

I am attaching the flyer and short newsletter blurb, just in case.  Thanks for your help in getting the word out.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Also, we are planning to travel to Charleston either April 15th or 16th, are these dates open?  Could you block them off for us, I will notify you ASAP which day for sure we will be there….I'm leaning toward the 16th.  We would most likely be at UUC from about 830a – 4p.  So far we have 16 eligible participants to enroll at your site.  We are planning to start the classes no later than April 26th, in case you would like to block off that time slot (11a-12p) Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Thanks, I look forward to working with you.

Thank you so much for talking with me the other day. I am so excited about the Amachi Mentoring Children of Promise program and the ramifications it could have in this area. Children of incarcerated parents are greater than 6 times more likely to end up within the correctional system themselves. If we can help one child to stop that cycle, than we have done a great thing!! Please find attached a flyer to briefly explain our program. Thank you for passing it on to your colleagues.

Better Communication using NVC in Charleston

Better Relationships
through Better Communication

Friends --

I'm really excited about our Spring line up of Practice Groups using NVC!

We have classes for parents, classes for teachers, and even classes for yogis!

Check out our latest offerings and a new video by Marshall Rosenberg at our new webpage: http://sites.google.com/site/kpccwv/communication

Wishing you a great day!

Sky

Each of these classes uses the book Non-Violent Communication by Marshall Rosenberg. We will be working on how to use NVC to deepen connection, increase empathy and non-judgment, and how to negotiate unmet needs from an open heart. Groups are open to individual, couples, parents, teachers, and counselors who want to improve their communication, negotiation, and intimacy skills.

Feedback from Charleston Participants

"I used the ideas last night to talk with my kids getting ready for school in the morning. I was amazed at how much better I felt afterwards. There was no yelling today, or whining, or crying! And we all got to school on time!" -- WV mother

WV mother
I listed to my boss in a whole different way. It really helped me to not be so hurt and angry."

WV teacher
"I talked to my boyfriend tonight, after our meeting today, and things went way better than I expected. I think he even agreed with what I was saying which made me feel really good. Thank You!"

WV High School Student
"I want to pass along the fine results I had following our session on NVC a week ago, I am writing to let you know it was an OUTSTANDING success! NVC REALLY made the difference, and it was well worth it sticking my heart-felt concerns out there.  I am a believer. Thank you!"
